Poland's state-owned natural gas transmission monopoly Gaz-System plans to start the construction of a 1,000 kilometer north-south gas pipeline in 2014.

The pipeline will connect a new Baltic LNG terminal at Swinoujscie, northern Poland, to its Czech, Slovak and Ukrainian neighbors.
The project is expected to cost some PLN 4.5 billion.

Gaz-System wants to prepare a financing structure for the project still this year, company CEO Jan Chadam told PAP Polish news agency. The new corridor will integrate the Polish gas transit system with EU countries.

Gaz-System is building Poland's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal which is to come online in June 2014 with an annual capacity of 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
