Edexcel, a provider of academic and vocational qualifications, asked students from several private institutions of higher education in Poland if they wanted to obtain extra qualifications. The question addressed discrepancies between what Polish employers expect of their employees and what the education system in Poland provides. The findings of the survey show that 75 percent of students are interested in obtaining extra vocational qualifications along with what they normally learn in school. Most respondents, 70 percent, wanted to obtain the qualifications in extramural studies and 33 percent opted for e-learning. Some of the surveyed students chose both options.

The most popular type of qualifications, chosen by 43 respondents, are business skills in human resources, marketing and management. IT qualifications were the second most popular answer, at 30 percent.

The survey was conducted in June on students from private business and IT colleges in Cracow and Ostrowiec ¦więtokrzyski.

Edexcel, part of Pearson, the international media and education company, is Britain’s largest awarding body, providing academic and vocational qualifications to more than 25,000 places of learning in Britain, and in over 100 countries worldwide.

Its partners in Poland are the Poznań College of Modern Languages and the Matrik Management Consultants and Trainers Association in Cracow.
