In a ceremony at the ferry terminal in the Polish coastal city of Gdynia July 1, Swedish ferry operator Stena Line officially launched its modernized ferry Stena Spirit to ply the waters of the Baltic Sea between Gdynia and Karlskrona in Sweden.

Stena Spirit will replace the Stena Baltica ferry on the Gdynia and Karlskrona route.

Stena Spirit has a twin passenger and car ferry called Stena Vision, which was put into operation in November last year. Both vessels have been overhauled and modernized at the expense of 250 million Swedish kronor, or around zl.120 million. Now each of them can carry 1,200 passengers in 496 cabins.

July 1 marked an Open House at Stena Line, with more than 15,000 people visiting the Stena Spirit’s decks. All the decks were open to visitors on that day, even those which are normally closed to passengers. The bridge from which the ship is commanded attracted special interest among the visitors.
