Reversal of negative trend in unemployment seen in autumn
February 15, 2013
The Polish gov’t will make every effort to fight unemployment and expects the negative trend to be reversed in the autumn of 2013, PM Donald Tusk said during a press conference.
"Autumn can be the moment when the trend in unemployment changes," after an economically "tough" Q1 and H1, Tusk said. "I assume that H2 will be visibly better for the economy than that critical Q1."
The government will make use of "all possible means at its disposal" to help improve the situation on the labor market, he added pointing to the state SPV for investments and cooperation with the Monetary Policy Council as well as financial market regulator KNF.
Labor Ministry expects unemployment to jump to 14.2% in January and by up to 0.4 ppt in February, after it rose to 13.4% in December from 12.9% in November.
