Modlin airport may remain closed even till end-year - report
February 15, 2013
The Modlin airport, situated 40 kilometers north of Warsaw, will possibly not be able to reopen the full runway until the end of 2013.
as repairs to its runway are taking longer than initially expected, Polish media reported on Thursday.
On December 22, the Regional Building Inspectorate closed a part of Modlin's runway because of surface safety problems. In effect the runway was reduced to 1,500 meters making it impossible for bigger planes to land.
The aiport - which opened last summer to take much of the budget airline traffic previously handled by Warsaw Chopin International Airport – will remain closed until the repair works on the damaged runway have been fully completed.
