The Thespian, a state-of-the-art apartment building under construction at 1 Powstańców ¦l±skich Sq. in Wrocław, is located near historic tenement houses just 15 minutes walk from the historic Old Town.

The building has been designed as a non-intrusive structure matching the rest of the neighborhood. Inside, the Thespian will provide residents with a comfortable temperature and silence thanks to a specially developed “double-skin” facade made of a double layer of glass fitted with moveable sun screens and individually adjustable blinds, allowing residents to regulate the amount of sunlight inside the building. The Thespian will house 38 premium apartments whose vast and bright interiors will allow future residents to freely arrange their living space.

The ground floor and several of the lower floors will be occupied by offices and retail space. Visitors to the offices, stores and service shops will not have access to the residential section of the building. The building is under surveillance and has a security system. Underneath it is a two-level parking garage.

The Thespian office and apartment building in Wrocław has made it to the list of 248 finalists of the World Building of the Year 2011 competition. The announcement of the results is the most anticipated moment of the fourth World Architecture Festival in Barcelona, the most important architectural event in the world. The finalists include three designs from Poland, two of them completed. These are the Na Skarpie sports arena in Bytom and the Thespian building, both designed by the Macków architectural studio from Wrocław.

Important!
The Skyscraper City online forum for architects, scientists and fans of architecture from Poland and abroad (www.skyscrapercity.com) has run an online poll for members to vote for the best building of the year. In an independent online vote, the Skyscraper City community has decided to give the best building of 2011 title to: The Thespian, Wrocław
