Poland's unemployment won't exceed 15pct at end-2013 - Labor Ministry
March 11, 2013
Poland's unemployment is expected to stabilize or show a slight decline in March as the market already shows signs of seasonal rebound, and should not be higher than 15% at the end of the year, Labor Ministry officials said on Friday.
"In March we expect stabilization, perhaps a slight decline," deputy Labor Minister Jacek Mecina told a press conference. "I think that unemployment in the entire year will not exceed 15%."
Poland's registered unemployment rate at end-February rose to 14.4% from 14.2% at the end of January, the latest estimates by the Labor Ministry show. Earlier ministry officials had said February jobless rate could exceed January level by 0.4 pps.
