Zelmer, the largest producer of household appliances in Poland, is making more small appliances thanks to a factory that opened Sept. 15 in Rogo¼nica near Rzeszów, southeastern Poland.

The new facility produces juicers, blenders, food processors, vacuum cleaners and electric kettles. Built at a cost of zl.80 million, the factory is the largest investment project by Zelmer and one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Europe. It was designed in the autumn of 2009 and took over six months to build. Thanks to its location in the Euro-Park Mielec Special Economic Zone, the factory is eligible for corporate income tax allowances. Zelmer, based in Rzeszów, has been in business for six decades and has a 20 percent share of the Polish household appliances market. It exports part of its products to 35 countries, the largest importers being Russia and Ukraine. The company has 1,200 employees.

Poland is one of the largest European producers of household appliances, especially major appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators.
