The winners of the PRCH Retail Awards 2011 program held by the Polish Council of Shopping Centers (PRCH) were announced at an award ceremony at the Fabryka Trzciny culture and arts center in Warsaw in October. The awards went to the best shopping centers, retail chains and marketing campaigns in Poland.

The Polish Council of Shopping Centers brings together over 180 shopping center investors, developers and tenants. The PRCH Retails Awards are designed to promote best practices in Poland’s retail industry. This year’s finalists included shopping centers and retail chains that stood out with their quality and efficiency as well as the most efficient marketing campaigns carried out by shopping centers and retail chains.

“We have created the PRCH Retail Awards program relying on the knowledge and expertise of our members,” said Anna Szmeja-Kroplewska, general manager of the Polish Council of Shopping Centers. “We have modeled our awards after those given out by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The ICSC awards are considered to be the world’s most prestigious awards in the retail industry. Through the PRCH Retail Awards, we want to have the best projects thoroughly evaluated with a view to promoting competence, creativity and business efficiency in the shopping center sector.”

To make sure that projects are evaluated with all diligence and objectivity, the Polish Council of Shopping Centers says it appointed a panel of judges made up of experts on development, shopping center management, tenancy, architecture and marketing, along with people representing tenants at shopping centers. The judges were tasked with assessing projects submitted for the competition in terms of their quality, innovation and efficiency.

The award ceremony in Warsaw was followed by a fashion show staged by the Caterina Fashion House, which showcased its Fall/Winter 2011 collection. The clothes were shown along with artistic jewelry from the YES Biżuteria company and the latest collection of Kazar shoes. Retail industry professionals Agnieszka Tomczak-Tuzińska, Agnieszka Zielonka, Maria Prokop, Agnieszka Mielcarz and Anna Szmeja-Kroplewska appeared on the catwalk as models, accompanied by the faces of the Fulfilled Dreams Foundation, actresses Edyta Herbu¶, Anna Samusionek and Magdalena Różczka.

The Polish Council of Shopping Centers was established as an association in 2003 and it has since been the exclusive Polish partner of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Representing the interests of the commercial real estate sector in Poland, the Polish Council of Shopping Centers publishes market reports, organizes training courses, conferences and quarterly business mixers and also hosts the main Polish stand at the annual MAPIC fair in Cannes, under the name the PRCH Meeting Point.

The Polish Council of Shopping Centers aims to support the development of companies and professionals on the Polish market for commercial real estate and works to raise the profile of shopping centers and shopping streets. In particular, the Polish Council of Shopping Centers promotes a positive image of the retail industry among opinion shapers, champions best practices in commercial real estate, liaises with organizations that have an impact on the development of the sector in Poland, works to remove legal barriers that obstruct trade and retail in Poland, publishes and updates key information about the industry, and seeks to build a broad platform for networking, research and knowledge.
