Metro Group Asset Management was among the winners of the BRAND FM 2011 competition organized by Facility Manager magazine. What is the secret of your success?
There is no secret. Until 2009 it was not welcome for us to work outside the Metro Group. We were only working for internal clients. At the beginning of 2009 some of our people had to learn again how important it is to step into the shoes of the customer, what it means to be customer-oriented. They had to meet the customer’s requests, understand their needs, and see how the customer sees our company. We all had to define the customer’s needs and then develop our strategy. To be honest, that was very hard homework to us which took more than a year. I am very happy to see that the results are now visible on the market.

What are your plans for the future?
In the near and mid-term future we will be more focused again on our internal clients, because they have to get the best possible service and the best cost structures to make their business profitable. We want to use our recent experience—within the Metro Group. We have to do better than our competitors are doing. The next thing I want to mention is that we will have to share our knowledge and experience from all the countries of our group and transfer some good ideas to and also from Poland. The Polish market is the biggest in Central and Eastern Europe and the most interesting for us. That means if we develop something successful in Poland it could easily become a role model for other countries in the region. It is usually very easy to convince managers from other countries to implement concepts coming from Poland.
