Cruise ships moored 56 times at Gdynia and 20 times at Gdańsk this year. Cruise ships brought around 100,000 passengers to the ports of the Tricity area, comprising Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, most of them to Gdynia. Most of these tourists visited the Gdańsk Old Town, the historic district of Oliwa and the seaside resort of Sopot.

As usual, the Tricity area also played host to important sailing events. Apart from regattas for smaller boats, Gdańsk hosted the Baltic Sail event for sailing ships while vessels taking part in The Culture 2011 Tall Ships Regatta called at Gdynia. The four-masted Russian ships Sedov and Krusenstern, the largest vessels among those taking part in the regatta were the most popular with visitors. The sister frigates Mir from Russia and Dar Młodzieży from Poland, and the Dutch ship Gulden Leeuw also attracted great interest.
