Mi這sz in Paintings
November 25, 2011
Article's tools:

An exhibition entitled Inspired by Mi這sz uses the visual arts to draw attention to Czes豉w Mi這sz, the great Polish poet and Nobel Prize winner.

Mi這sz was born in a region that before World War II was part of Poland and is now part of Lithuania. Both Poland and Lithuania have declared 2011 “the Year of Czes豉w Mi這sz.”

The exhibition, an idea by the Mazovian Culture and Art Center, is housed in two rooms of the Mazowiecka gallery in Warsaw, comprises works by over 20 outstanding Polish and Lithuanian artists. All the works were inspired by poems and novels by Mi這sz.

According to Romuald Mieczkowski, the curator of the exhibition, those who are not familiar with Mi這sz may be inspired to reach for his works.

Polish artists featured in the exhibition include Stanis豉w Baj, Wojciech Cieniewski, Maciej Czy瞠wski, Joanna Go豉szewska, and Marcin Jurkiewicz. Lithuanian artists include Linas Domarackas, Bronius Rudys and Arturas Slipavicius.
