Polish courier company Opek last year notched up its biggest ever revenues and spent a record sum on development. It delivered 12.5 million packages, 13 percent more than in 2010, while its revenue grew 11 percent.

Opek doubled its package sorting capacity last year and started building a transshipment hub in £ód¼. Throughout the year, Opek invested in improvements in its equipment, IT systems and in environmentally friendly technology. According to Opek CEO Marek Opiński, 2011 was a year of hard work for the company. “But I am happy to see we managed to accomplish our strategic goals,” Opiński said. “We really breezed through the weeks leading up to Christmas, the busiest time in our business. As far as 2012 is concerned, one of the main projects for Opek is to complete building and then launch the new transshipment hub in £ód¼ and continue refining our logistics processes and IT systems.” BAG
