Ciecierski at Le Guern Gallery
January 26, 2012
Article's tools:

Tomasz Ciecierski is widely regarded as one of Poland’s best contemporary artists. An exhibition of his work is on display at the Le Guern gallery in Warsaw.

Ciecierski has a distinctive way of putting together his work, assembling several different fragments in one picture. He combines all kinds of elements that differ in form, but complement the main theme of his work. The artist is more interested in the creative process than art as such and likes to mix landscape depictions with abstract signs and sketches with painting.

Two new, large canvases by Ciecierski, entitled “Shapeless,” are abstract compositions where the notion of depth is the common theme. This is both suggested depth and physical depth. The exhibition in Warsaw also includes “High Tide Low Tide,” which are new paintings composed of smaller pictures placed next to one another. There are also photographs entitled “Nostalgia,” a project as part of which Ciecierski photographed faces looking away from the camera and wrapped up in their own worlds.
