New Container Scanner for Gdynia
February 23, 2012
Article's tools:

The Pomeranian Customs Service in January installed a zl.8.5 million scanner for screening containers at the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in the seaport of Gdynia. The Rapiscan G-60 is the first such scanner in a Polish container terminal and at the same time one of the most modern devices of its kind in the country.

According to the president of BCT, Krzysztof Szymborski, the scanner improves the standards of cargo handling at the Gdynia terminal “bringing them on a par with the top international standards.” Previously, Polish cargo could only be scanned quickly and efficiently in Hamburg, Germany. Scanning a container together with image analysis takes no longer than 10 minutes. According to Szymborski, the use of the scanner by the customs service will benefit importers because the device will make the customs procedure easier, quicker and cheaper.
