Preparing for the construction of wind farms and launching a project involving a lignite gasification system - these are the most important tasks the Konin Lignite Mine faces.

Outlays for new projects and the development of existing ones will total zl.52 million this year. The mine is preparing to build wind farms. It expects to get permission for the first three projects out of five chosen locations before the end of the year. All the farms will be set up at surface mines that have been shut down. Preparations are at an advanced stage at the JóĽwin 2A, JóĽwin 2B and Kazimierz Północny mines. The other wind farms will be built at the Drzewce and Lubstów mines. The company strategy assumes that by 2015 the total capacity of the wind power plants will be 175 MW.

The lignite gasification system is the first project of its kind in Poland. The electricity generated thanks to this system will be used by the mine itself.
