Classical musicians will have an opportunity to hone their skills in a series of master classes in Warsaw with some of the greatest contemporary musicians.

The Warsaw International Master Courses, being held Aug. 16-24, will be open to music students, music school teachers and independent adult musicians. The Warsaw courses were first held in 2006 at the No. 4 Karol Szymanowski State Music School in Warsaw. The founder and artistic director was Maciej Paderewski, a renowned pianist and chamber musician and a professor at the Frederic Chopin University of Music and the Szymanowski school. The courses in 2006-2009 were attended by several hundred young musicians from Poland, Russia, Latvia, Moldova, France, Italy and Japan. The teachers and participants gave concerts at the Szymanowski school’s Concert Hall. After Prof. Paderewski died, the organizers decided to continue with his legacy and the fifth series of Warsaw courses was organized last year by the Karol Szymanowski Foundation in Warsaw. The event drew several dozen participants.

Instructors of the five series of Warsaw courses held so far include outstanding soloists, chamber musicians and teachers from Polish music schools. This year’s courses will be conducted by Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Irina Rumyantseva-D±browski and Alberto Nose (piano), Bartosz Bryła and Mariusz Patyra (violin), Paweł Gusnar (saxophone), Ewa Iżykowska (singing), Maja Nosowska (chamber piano music,) Krzysztof Herdzin (introduction to composing and jazz improvisation) and Jerzy Marchwiński (seminar: Partnership in Music).

The courses are open and encompass individual lessons with selected instructors, group lessons and concerts which instructors and outstanding participants will play at the Concert Hall of the No. 4 Karol Szymanowski State Music School in Warsaw.
