This year’s Warsaw Summer Jazz Days festival will be held July 9-16 with a follow-up Post Scriptum concert by Melody Gardot at the Kongresowa Hall two weeks later, July 29.

The stars of this year’s festival include Herbie Hancock, Joe Lovano, Dave Douglas, Ambrose Akinmusire, The Bad Plus I Joshua Redman, Miguel Zenón, Tim Berne and Mary Halvorson.

There will be at least three festival venues, including the Kongresowa Hall (Herbie Hancock, Melody Gardot), the Soho Factory (most concerts) and the Jazzarium Cafe where, starting July 9, festival guests will be giving solo recitals in the evening.

This year, the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days organizers have teamed up with festivals in Rome and the Hague to arrange workshops and concerts for young improvising musicians. The workshops will take place July 9-13 and will be conducted by teachers from the New York School for Improvisational Music (SIM): Ralph Alessi, Jim Black, Matt Michell and Mark Helias. Young Polish, Italian and Dutch bands taking part in the workshops will give concerts July 14 and 15 and will then perform their music in Rome and the Hague.
