This year the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Poland organized its annual Fourth of July picnic at a new venue. The Polonia stadium in Warsaw was chosen for this year’s picnic so as to continue the sporty mood started by the Euro 2012 soccer championships. Special sports attractions, such as soccer, American football, badminton, Frisbee and basketball, were organized for the 1,000 AmCham members, their families and friends enjoying U.S. Independence Day. Former Poland national soccer player Dariusz Dziekanowski was at hand and American football teams the White Eagles and Warsaw Werewolves played a game.

At the opening of the picnic, the U.S. ambassador to Poland, Lee Feinstein, congratulated AmCham for its leading role in organizing the U.S.-Poland Business Summit in June this year and the annual Fourth of July picnic. The official part of the picnic commenced with the presentation of the colors by U.S. Marines and with children singing the American and Polish anthems. Guests included Michał Kleiber, chairman of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Bożena Lubińska-Kasprzak, president of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, and Henryka Bochniarz, president of the Lewiatan Polish Confederation of Private Employers.
