Poles Win Google Ad Contest
August 29, 2012
Students from the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) have become the first European team to win the Google Online Marketing Challenge.
The Polish team beat over 11,000 competitors from 86 countries. In previous years, teams from the Warsaw School of Economics were European winners three times.
The Google Online Marketing Challenge is an annual, global competition for undergraduate and graduate students, helping them gather experience in online advertising through a campaign employing the Google AdWords advertising system. The competing teams consist of between three and six members supervised by a lecturer. The students are tasked with creating an effective online marketing campaign for real businesses and non-profit organizations. Each campaign lasts three weeks and its budget has to remain below $250.
Contestants in this year’s fifth Google Online Marketing Challenge were 2,874 teams made up of around 11,000 students from 86 countries.
