Telecom Ads Most Numerous Online
One in four online advertisements in Poland in the second quarter of 2012 was for telecommunications services, according to research firm Gemius, which studies the results of online advertising campaigns on the Polish market.

The number of online telecommunications ads dropped by 6.5 percentage points compared with the previous quarter, while the number of automotive ads dropped by almost half, Gemius says.

Food ads were the most popular with internet users, with a click-through rate (CTR) of 1.1 percent, compared with 1.06 percent for advertisements in the leisure category and 0.92 percent for those in the travel, hotels, tourist services and restaurants category.

Turner Eyes Polish Multiplex
The U.S.-based media corporation Turner Broadcasting System is interested in broadcasting programs in Poland as part of the country’s first digital terrestrial television multiplex (MUX-1) system.

Other broadcasters interested in joining MUX-1 include Polish private television broadcasters Cyfrowy Polsat and TVN as well as public broadcaster TVP. The broadcasters announced their plans during consultations conducted by Poland’s National Radio and Television Council, which grants broadcasting licenses in this country.

At present MUX-1 carries three TVP channels as well as private channels ATM Rozrywka TV, Polo TV, Eska TV, and TTV.

Turner Broadcasting System said it is considering applying for a license to air a children’s channel in Poland. The other broadcasters have not revealed what specific channels their plans concern.

The MUX-1 selection procedure is scheduled to get under way in the fall.

Turner owns channels such as CNN, TCM and Cartoon Network.

TVN Channels Now Available in Britain
Two television channels operated by Polish media group TVN are now available to viewers in Britain as part of the Polska Plus interactive television platform targeted at Polish people living in these two countries. The two channels are the entertainment channel TVN International (ITVN) and the news channel TVN24.

The monthly subscription fee for the Polska Plus TV package is 8.99 pounds.

Apart from the TVN channels, the package offers access to 11 other Polish television stations, including the news channel TVP Info, the specialty channels TVP Kultura, TVP Historia and TVP Polonia, and the music channel 4fun.tv.

Polska Plus is a part of the Vision TV Network package. The Polska Plus channels are available online through the www.polska.plus.co.uk website in the IPTV system, and from the British terrestrial platform Freeview.

In another project, three Polish television channels—TVN International, TVN24 and Religia.tv—have been added to the IPTV Your.tv platform in the Netherlands. Your.tv broadcasts are available with the use of plug&play devices connected to the internet. Apart from the TVN channels, the Polish package includes TVP Polonia, TVP Info, TVP Historia, and TVP Kultura. The monthly subscription fee is 15 euros.
