The Sejm lower house Friday passed a bill on the ratification of regulations abolishing death penalty in all circumstances, including times of war.

Poland is one of the very few Council of Europe members where death penalty is allowed in times of war.

The Sejm passed the bill on the ratification of Protocol No. 13 to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms concerning the abolition in all circumstances which was passed in Vilnius on May 3, 2002.
