Hailing from Portugal, fado singer Carminho is one of the hottest names in world music. A successful touring artist, she is a major star in her home country. In October, Carminho will give three concerts in Poland.

A career as a fado singer was a natural step for Carminho, who grew up surrounded by some of the greatest performers of this genre. She has all it takes: a distinctive and powerful voice, a strong stage presence and a special kind of magic that mesmerizes listeners. Carminho has been compared to her countrywoman Mariza, the biggest star of fado, who performs to full houses at the largest concert halls across the world.

Carminho’s debut album was hailed as the best fado release of the past several years. Songlines magazine named it one of the 10 most important world music albums of 2011.

This year, Carminho has released her second album, entitled Alma. The follow-up has proved a spectacular success in terms of both critical acclaim and sales, topping the album charts in Portugal. In Poland, the album has been available since early June.

Carminho; Oct. 15—Szczecin, Opera Hall
Oct. 16—Gdańsk, Pomeranian Philharmonic
Oct. 17—Lublin, Congress Center
