Poland is set for a "long period of interest rate stabilization," with the country's GDP growth improving gradually beginning in the third quarter of 2013, rate setter Andrzej Bratkowski told reporters.

"We may count on a long period of interest rate stabilization," Bratkowski said, pointing to the fact that Poland's GDP growth will accelerate slowly but gradually.

GDP growth in the second quarter was similar to the first quarter, Bratkowski said.

"GDP growth in the third quarter should be better than in the second quarter and later everything will go in the direction of an improvement, albeit slight," he said.

The economic growth in Poland "will undergo a slow, but gradual improvement" until the end of the current monetary policy council's term of office, the rate setter added.

The current term of office of Poland's monetary policy council expires in 2016.
