During his first ever visit to Poland in October, British billionaire Sir Richard Branson encouraged Polish university students to pursue their business projects.

Branson, the legendary founder of the Virgin Group, a business visionary and philanthropist, came to Warsaw to take part in the launch of the Virgin Mobile Academy, a program designed to support entrepreneurship among young Polish people. The program has been funded by Virgin Mobile Polska, a new mobile operator operating in Poland since August.

The Virgin Mobile Academy program is targeted at young enterprising people who dream of developing their own business projects and need organizational support and funding to conduct them. The winner of this year’s program will receive zl.100,000 for his or her project.

During a meeting with students at the University of Warsaw, Branson spoke about how dreams and business projects may be pursued so as to create new and better solutions beneficial for society and the world. Polish students were interested in Branson’s advice on how to start a business and how to be successful in business and personal life at a time of crisis.

Branson said that success was the natural outcome of people pursuing their passion and interests in life.

The founders of the Virgin Mobile Academy say the program is aimed at finding innovative ideas which have a favorable impact on the environment. The Virgin Mobile Academy is open to adult people, who submit for the program one or more ideas, the most interesting of which are selected by the judges to take part in the next stage of the competition. Participants may submit their own projects or represent a group of people who carry out a joint project. In the latter case, they take part in the Virgin Mobile Academy training courses and workshops as team leaders.

Tomasz Gniewek, managing director of Virgin Mobile Polska, said, “We are happy that Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group, has taken part in the official inauguration of a special entrepreneurship support program that we have prepared for young Poles, especially students. I am convinced that Richard Branson, his career and the innovative business ideas he has pursued since he was a student may be an excellent intellectual and career inspiration for many Polish students. Just as Richard Branson defied business standards in the past, Virgin Mobile Polska wants to inspire young ambitious people today to undertake innovative activities and search for new solutions.”
