The University of Warsaw’s interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computational Modeling (ICM) is marking its 20th year in existence. The center is a pioneer in promoting the internet and information technology in Poland. One of its aims is to provide the research community with computing resources. This includes supercomputers capable of storing large amounts of data.

To mark the occasion, a special anniversary exhibition will be held at the Kazimierzowski Palace on the University of Warsaw campus. Called From Bytes to Petascale: ICM Computers in Photographs 1993-2012, the exhibition will feature photographs of computers and IT equipment used by ICM over the past 20 years.

During this period, computers and other devices have undergone a remarkable evolution, reflecting progress in modern technology. The aim of the exhibition is to show these changes.

Many of the ICM’s computers were used in groundbreaking and pioneering research and development projects in Poland. The exhibition will show both historical and contemporary computers working at the ICM.
