The head of Solidarity Union Piotr Duda
The Solidarity Union Tuesday celebrated in the southern city of Jastrzebie Zdroj in Silesia the 33rd anniversary of the 1980 Jastrzebie Agreement between the union and Poland's communist authorities.
The 25th anniversary of a 1988 worker strike wave which contributed to the re-legalization of Solidarity after its 1981 banning under martial law, was also celebrated.
The Agreement guaranteed work-free Saturdays and the indexation of employee salaries.
