Hilton Hotel Chain Expands Fast
January 31, 2013
The Hilton hotel chain is expanding rapidly in Poland.
In December 2012, Hilton Worldwide signed an agreement with Euro Hotele, based in Cracow, on starting the construction of a hotel in the city. Two hotel brands—the Double Tree by Hilton and the Hampton by Hilton—will be based at the same location. Such double-brand hotels are increasingly appearing across Europe. Poland is the latest country in which Hilton Worldwide is launching such a hotel, following on from similar projects in Britain, Germany and Turkey.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s vice-president for development in Europe and Africa, said that Hilton’s expansion in Poland is gaining momentum. He added that the number of Hilton-branded hotels, including those which are already under construction in various cities, will more than double in the coming years.
There are now five Hilton-brand hotels in Poland, another seven are under construction and a further 12 are planned. Under construction are the Double Tree by Hilton in Wrocław, Łódź and Cracow, the Hilton Garden Inn in Wrocław and Cracow, and the Hampton by Hilton in Cracow, Warsaw and Gdańsk. It is estimated that around 500 people will be employed in the hotels in the coming years. Hilton Worldwide has recently announced the opening of the Hampton by Hilton in Warsaw, which will be the largest hotel of this brand in Europe.
The Double Tree by Hilton in Cracow will have 224 rooms and 2,250 sq m of conference and banquet space.
Hilton’s first hotel in Poland, the Hilton Warsaw Hotel & Convention Centre, opened in 2007. It was followed by Hilton-brand hotels in Rzeszów, Świnoujście, Cracow and Gdańsk.
