Book About Polish Museums
March 1, 2013
Polish Museums, a new coffee-table book from the BoSz publishing house, contains a comprehensive overview of Poland’s principal museums and their collections.
The publication is available in two languages, Polish and English. Providing readers with insight into the most interesting museums in Poland, it comprises a historical overview of their traditions and discusses contemporary museum design and how museums may develop in the future. The authors also describe Polish collections abroad.
Polish Museums is illustrated with photographs of museum buildings, collections and rare items. Contemporary photographs are supplemented by archival images.
The idea for the coffee-table book came from art historian Prof. Dorota Folga-Januszewska, an expert on museums and the former director of the National Museum in Warsaw. Folga-Januszewska has curated many exhibitions and authored a number of publications on museums.
The book, priced zl.99.90, is divided into chapters by museum type, from historic residences to Polish museums abroad through to technology and science museums. The chapters come with introductions contributed by museum directors and researchers.
