Polish HICP inflation at 0.9pct y/y in August - Eurostat

Poland's harmonized annual HICP inflation measured 0.9% year on year in August, flat compared to the July reading, Eurostat said in a statement.
Month on month, prices were down by 0.2%, the statement shows.
HICP is used to determine countries' compliance with Maastricht treaty inflation criteria, necessary for euro adoption. The maximum allowed inflation is set at 1.5 pp above the level of three-year average of countries with the lowest result in the EU.
Based on the Polish price basket, Poland's Central Statistical Office (GUS) calculated August inflation at 1.1% y/y and -0.3% m/m, GUS said on September 13.
