Circus Posters on Show
March 27, 2013
Article's tools:

The What a Circus! exhibition at the Visual Art and Poster Gallery in Warsaw comprises a selection of circus posters by some of Poland’s finest poster artists who have been internationally known since the 1960s under the label Polish School of Poster Design.

Filled with dazzling colors, humor, joy and fun, the exhibited items show Polish graphic design at its best. Unlike posters produced for theatrical plays and movies, many circus posters do not advertise individual events and as such. They are regarded as a separate category that uses humor, irony and symbols as the primary means of expression.

The artists featured in the exhibition include Jan Młodożeniec, Jan Lenica, Waldemar ¦wierzy, Jerzy Srokowski, Leszek Hołdanowicz, Bronisław Zelek and Hubert Hilscher.
