Energy regulator URE seeks to lower gas bills for industry
October 9, 2013
Poland's energy market regulator URE will press natural gas monopolist PGNiG to propose tariffs that would lower bills for industry and introduce only minor changes to gas bills for households, URE head Marek Woszczyk said.
"In terms of changes to gas bills, there are two goals: that there are only minor changes, if any, in bills for households and that we return to normal market conditions with lower prices for large recipients," Woszczyk told broadcaster TVN CNBC.
"The bills for industry would be lower than in current tariffs," he also said.
URE approved tariff extension for PGNiG to year-end on September 17. URE has already asked PGNiG to correct certain positions in its proposal for the tariff starting in 2014, Woszczyk said, adding that the sides are entering a "phase of difficult negotiations."
