Seven Deadly Sins in Dance
April 25, 2013
Article's tools:

The seven deadly sins are the central theme of a new dance show called Saligia, staged by the Capitol theater in Warsaw.

Written and directed by Paweł Michno, Saligia tells the story of a young man haunted by his secrets and weaknesses. The title comes from the Latin acronym of the seven deadly sins, which in the show are embodied by seven characters the protagonists meets. They include his partner, a beautiful and aloof woman, a man addicted to gambling and a girl intent on having a good time with strangers. The encounters prove a cathartic experience for the main character, who finds he can admit his weaknesses to himself.

The role of the young man battling his demons is played by Rafał Maserak, famous for appearing in the Polish version of the celebrity talent show Dancing with the Stars. He is accompanied by some of Poland’s finest dancers, including Edyta Herbu¶ (pictured), Magdalena Soszyńska-Michno and Ewa Szabatin. The sets were designed by Dorota Banasik, while the choreography is a collective effort by the entire ensemble.
