Animal rights activists clash with Polish muslims over ritual slaughter

Animal rights activists disrupted the start of the Islamic Feast of the Sacrifice or Kurban Bayram in Bohoniki, north-eastern Poland, on Tuesday as it involved the recently banned slaughter of conscious animals.
Last week Polish Muslim leader, Mufti Tomasz Miskiewicz, said that the ritual slaughter of six animals would be carried out on Tuesday, the first day of the four-day Feast of the Sacrifice.
Animal rights activists told reporters they had notified prosecutors about the possibility of illegal activity.
