Poland's OTC market expected to show positive growth in 2013
October 16, 2013
Poland's over-the-counter drug market is expected to grow by 11% year on year in 2013, while the average annual growth in years 2013-2016 will amount to 6.6%, researcher PMR said in a report.
"In PMR's view due to the low base from 2012 and a high number of infections the OTC product market will recover in 2013 and will sport a positive growth rate at the level of 11%," the report reads. "Like in 2012, the introduction of new products and a price increase will have a positive influence on the growth rate."
According to PMR forecasts "in the years 2013-2016 the OTC products market will reach an average annual growth rate at the level of 6.6%," the researchers said.
The OTC market growth rate will be supported by pharmacies' focus on such products and increased demand for OTC drugs in retail stores, the report reads.
Maintaining an increased 8% VAT rate on drugs until end-2016 will not have a negative influence on the OTC growth market growth rate in this period, the researchers also said.
