Polish Flag on the Seven Seas
May 28, 2013
Article's tools:

The achievements of Polish sailors and explorers are showcased in the Red-and-White Flag on the Seven Seas exhibition on display in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw.

This is the second such exhibition to date and it focuses on Polish sailors and captains of yachts and tall ships plying international waters under the Polish flag.

Poland’s red-and-white flag is a common sight around the globe as Polish travelers and explorers climb the world’s highest mountains and venture into the farthest corners of the earth.

The exhibition recounts many of the spectacular successes of Polish sailors and highlights the fact that the first sailor to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a lifeboat alone was Polish, as was the first woman in history to sail around the world on her own. Polish sailors have also won countless trophies in boat races, from Olympic events to around-the-world races.

The exhibition features photographs by some of Poland’s best sailors and explorers, including Jacek Pałkiewicz, Henryk Jaskuła, and Krzysztof Baranowski.

The exhibition has been organized under the auspices of President Bronisław Komorowski.

Until June 16 in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw, 46/48 Krakowskie Przedmie¶cie St.
