First rate hike possible in Q4 2014 - rate setter Bratkowski
October 28, 2013
First interest rate hike could take place in Q4 2014, based on the current perception of the economic situation, which shows the Polish economy will continue to be driven by net exports in the coming two-three quarters and consumption will recover slowly, rate setter Andrzej Bratkowski said at a conference.
"Taking into account what I think about the economy today, I would vote in favor of the first rate hike in Q4 2014," Bratkowski said, underlining "it is not a promise, it is only a forecast."
Growth tendencies will remain "very week," until end-year he said. "Only next year the pace of economic growth will, in my opinion, visibly exceed 2% and will neighbor 3%," he added.
