Bossa So Nice!, a new release on the Magnetic Records label, celebrates bossa nova, probably the most recognizable type of Brazilian music.

The world’s love affair with bossa nova started with “How Insensitive,” “Quiet Nights” and several other hits. Generations of musicians and vocalists have been revisiting the beautiful tunes ever since.

The double-CD Bossa So Nice! compilation brings together the best-known bossa nova songs performed by stars of the genre such as Astrud Gilberto, Henri Salvador, Rosa Passos and Joyce Moreno, along with bossa nova-inspired renditions of “The Girl from Ipanema,” “Lisboa” and other hits by famous pop and jazz singers.

Jazz versions of familiar bossa nova tunes are performed in English, French and Portuguese by such vocalists as Amy Winehouse, Diana Krall, Melody Gardot and Keren Ann. The compilation also features new songs by contemporary Brazilian performers, including Toco, Marcos Valle, Marcio Faraco and Paula Morelenbaum.
