The fifth Soundedit International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Engineers will be held in ŁódĽ Oct. 25-26, offering a wealth of concerts, workshops and industry meetings.

The motto of the festival is “I Am the Sound” and performers this year will include Marc Almond and ex-Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, who now heads Public Image Ltd. Both musicians will be making their first club-concert appearances in Poland.

Adding to the atmosphere will be the first performance in Poland by British band Six By Seven, which is making a comeback with a new album and a new drummer—Steve Hewitt, formerly of Placebo fame. The festival will also host American bassist, producer and record label owner Bill Laswell, who will perform the soundtrack to Koyaanisqatsi, a film directed by Philip Glass.

The festival will also see the premiere of a documentary about the life and work of Polish composer Władysław Komendarek. The film is being made in Sochaczew, west of Warsaw, the composer’s hometown. Komendarek will collect “The Man with the Golden Ear” award for “special musical sensitivity” at this year’s festival.

Tickets are available from Ticket Pro. Prices: zl.140 for all festival events including the workshops; zl.80 for single-day admission.
