Appeals court rules that crucifx may stay in Polish parliament
December 10, 2013
Article's tools:

Liberal opposition party Your Movement (formerly Palikot Movement)lost their appeal against the presence of a crucifix in Poland's lower house of parliament as the Warsaw Court of Appeal ruled that the crucifix did not violate personal rights of atheist MPs.

The appeals court upheld the verdict of the court of first instance
reasoning that the crucifix is not just a religious symbol, but also one of "culture and natural identity".

Your Movement leader Janusz Palikot said they would take the case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France.
