Poland's special-purpose investment vehicle (PIR) and telecom infrastructure firm Hawe Thursday sealed an initial accord on a joint fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project in which optical fibre links will be provided to 870,000 homes countrywide by 2019.
PIR CEO Mariusz Grendowicz told a press conference that the project will cost around PLN 560 million over six years, with Hawe contributing PLN 130 million and PIR PLN 120 million. The remaining costs will be covered from bank loans (PLN 250 mln) and credits from infrastructure suppliers (PLN 60 mln).
Hawe said it would finance some 20% of the cost from its own means in order to provide network for some 870,000 households within five years.
The investment, if realized, would be PIR's first project carried out with a private partner.
