The combined market share of the four largest television stations in the country, the Polish public broadcaster’s TVP 1 and TVP 2, and the privately-owned TVN and Polsat, fell in October to 49 percent (among viewers over the age of four), from a previous reading of 56.67 percent, according to a report by Nielsen Audience Measurement.

In part, this is because viewers have gained access to new stations as part of the country’s free digital terrestrial television services, available nationwide as of July, the report says.

TVN maintained remained Poland’s most watched station in October, with an average audience of 780,500 viewers and a market share of 13.31 percent. TVP 1 advanced to second place, with 725,800 viewers and 12.37 percent, outperforming Polsat, which was third with 724,000 viewers and 12.35 percent. TVP 2 was fourth, with 643,200 viewers and 10.97 percent.

Trailing these four are TVN 7 with a 3.58 percent market share (an increase of 0.88 percentage points from the previous measurement), TV Puls with 3.23 percent (an increase of 0.68 points), TV 4 with 2.94 percent (up by 0.64 points), Polsat 2 with 1.81 percent (up by 0.32 points), and Puls 2 with 1.29 percent (an increase of 1 point).
