Unique music project at TR Warszawa
January 3, 2014
Warszawska Orkiestra Rozrywkowa im. Igora Krenza WOR (Igor Krenz Warsaw Concert Band), a unique music ensemble will play pieces from from Beck's album entitled “Song Reader”, Jan 6 on the stage of TR Warszawa theater.
WOR is a group of alternating musicians related to Warsaw-based LADO ABC label. Their first concert took place at the Malta Festival 2011 in the western city of Poznan.
Since then WOR have played just a few concerts, each time presenting a new project, with a new line-up of musicians. Now, in collaboration with TR Warszawa, Lado ABC has prepared three unique concerts by WOR to be hosted at the theatre.
The first of them will feature pieces from an album entitled “Song Reader”, the latest work by Beck, a set of songs published as notes only, without any original rendering.
“Performing Beck's pieces, WOR transform themselves into a cocktail-finesse ensemble with rotating vocalists. A rock feel twines with pearly smears of Hawaiian guitar and vibraphone figures, elegant harmoniousness being pierced with rhythmical excesses and a duo of keyboard instruments buckling the whole with an acoustic-electric clasp,” a music critic Piotr Lewandowski wrote.
The band includes Marcin Masecki (Profesjonalizm), Jerzy Rogiewicz (Levity), Miłosz Pękala (Kwadrofonik), Bartosz Weber (Baaba), Bartłomiej Tyciński (Mitch & Mitch), Macio Moretti (Shofar), Piotr Zabrodzki (LXMP), Igor Nikiforow (Hokei), Olo Walicki (Łoskot), Tobiasz Biliński (Coldair), Karol Strzemieczny (Paula i Karol) i Szymon Najder (Eric Shoves Them In His Pocket).
The first concert by WOR is a New Year’s gift of the theater to its audience. A free ticket can be obtained at the theater’s box office.
