Poland's car production seen rising to ca. 620,000 in 2014

Poland's passenger car and van production will likely increase to some 620,000 from the expected level of 590,000 in 2013, while 2014 sales will increase by several percent to over 300,000, president of automotive lobby PZPM Jakub Farys told PAP Polish news agency.
"Looking at present economic forecasts one may estimate that Polish factories will introduce to the market some 520,000 passenger cars and another 100,000 vans in 2014," Farys said.
PZPM estimates 2013 production at some 500,000 passenger cars, down by 10% year on year and 90,000 vans, a 7-10% annual increase, Farys said, calling the 2013 production level "unsatisfactory" given the size of the Polish economy, but a positive sign when juxtaposed with forecasts from the beginning of 2013.
The expected 2014 increase will come on the back of the economic recovery in Poland and "economic acceleration in the EU, especially Germany," Farys said.
