Tribute to Artist

Warsaw’s Rampa Theater is Jan. 11 hosting an evening to celebrate the work of well-known graphic artist and caricaturist Witold Mysyrowicz.
The event marks 40 years since Mysyrowicz started working as an artist. It is being organized by the Association of Polish Caricature Artists (SPAK), of which Mysyrowicz is president. The evening will include the opening of an exhibition of around 500 posters and drawings by Mysyrowicz and the launch of a book that is lavishly illustrated with over 500 of his works, 280 photographs and also around 260 pieces of work by other artists. The book contains details about Mysyrowicz and his career.
During the evening, the Association of Polish Caricature Artists will present awards, and funds will be raised for Zenon Porzucek, a member of the association who has been battling serious disease. Guests will also see a play entitled Art performed by Rampa Theater actors.
Mysyrowicz was born in 1947 in Warsaw. In 1967-1973, he studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw, graduating from the Faculty of Graphic Design. He has worked as a graphic designer for publishing houses and advertising agencies. As well as producing satirical drawings, he occasionally ventures into other branches of art.
Mysyrowicz has exhibited his posters, paintings and drawings in 31 individual exhibitions. His work has also been shown in hundreds of collective exhibitions in Poland and several dozen other countries across the world. His drawings as well as the posters and logos he has designed have brought him 145 awards in competitions in Poland, China, the Czech Republic, France, Spain, India, Iran, South Korea, Germany, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Romania and Italy.
