Italy's Eni gives up two shale gas exploration licenses in Poland
January 15, 2014
Italian fuel group Eni let two of its three licenses for shale gas exploration in Poland expire, the Environment Ministry's spokesperson Pawel Mikusek said on Tuesday.
"Eni . . . did not extend two out of three concessions held [Mlynary and Malbork in northern Poland], so the concessions expired," Mikusek told PAP Polish news agency. "The third concession - Elblag - is still valid."
A number of foreign E&E companies have withdrawn from exploration works in Poland before, including Exxon, Talisman and Marathon Oil.
The announcement follows Tuesday press reports to the same effect.
