A play based on a movie by Ingmar Bergman has opened at Warsaw’s Kamienica Theater.

The theatrical adaptation of the legendary Swedish director’s Scenes from a Marriage is an intimate, psychological study of a deteriorating relationship. The Polish version is directed by famous theater and film director Barbara Sass, with the help of actress Justyna Sieńczyłło. The two women previously teamed up on the award-winning plays Tango Notturno and Wiera Gran. In Scenes from a Marriage, Sieńczyłło stars opposite Piotr Grabowski.

The play looks at two seemingly happy, well-educated people. One is a lawyer and the other is a professor. As time goes by, they face a difficult decision about whether to go their separate ways.

The music for the play was composed by Michał Lorenc, the sets were designed by Wojciech Stefaniak, and the costumes by Ewa Krauze.
