Imka Revs Up
January 21, 2014
A legendary racing driver is the protagonists of a new play Ayrton Senna Da Silva to be shown at Warsaw’s Imka Theater on January 22 and 23 at 7 pm.
A drama written by Robert Bolesto and directed by Łukasz Kos, tells the story of the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, three-time world champion and winner of 41 Grand Prix races, who was killed in an accident May 1, 1994. A sport icon and a national hero in his native Brazil, Senna was famous for his fearless driving style, for his community work and for his devout faith. Even while alive, Senna was worshipped by Brazilians and after the crash that killed him during the San Marino Grand Prix, the myth of Senna as a hero and unrivaled champion exploded into veneration comparable to that of a Catholic saint.
The Warsaw play, which had its premiere Dec. 15, stars Joanna Niemirska, Michał Bieliński and Marek Kossakowski and features music performed live by composer and performing artist Dominik Strycharski.
