Voter support for main opposition rises to 32pct - poll

Polish ruling party, the liberal Civic Platform (PO) suffered a 1 ppt decline in voter support to 22% in January, while backing for its major rival and poll leader, conservative Law and Justice (PiS), increased by 4 pps to 32%, widening the gap between the two parties to 10 pps, a report by TNS Polska showed.

Voter support for left-wing party Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) rose by 1 ppt to 10%, according to the poll.

Twoj Ruch (Your Movement), the new incarnation of the liberal Palikot Movement, lost 3 pps to 3%, while junior coalition partner Polish People’s Party (PSL) stayed at 4%, both below the 5% threshold for parliamentary representation, the report showed.

The poll was taken on January 11-16 on a representative sample of 970 adult Poles.
