Power group PGE stands by its plans to issue the notice to proceed to the contractors of Opole project on January 31, PGE CEO Marek Woszczyk told the lower house extraordinary committee for energy policy.
"We maintain that we want to issue the notice to proceed with works on January 31," Woszczyk said. "The construction site has already been formally handed over to contractors. We expect to receive performance bonds from the construction companies tomorrow."
PGE intends to build two 900 MW blocks at the Opole power plant for an estimated at PLN 11.56 billion. The contract was awarded to a consortium of Rafako, Polimex-Mostostal and Mostostal Warszawa, which later subcontracted the bulk of works to the French Alstom.
According to schedule, the first block is to be turned over in Q4 2018, the second one - in Q1 2019, Woszczyk said.
